Looking for a website grant in Norwich or Norfolk? Go Digital is one local programme worth checking. It combines digital advice with a possible contribution towards an agreed project. This guide explains what to check before commissioning website work and how to prepare a useful supplier brief. Scheme information was checked on 16 September 2026. Mousehold Studio is an independent website supplier, not the funding organisation.
What Go Digital offers, and its current availability
Norfolk County Council describes free digital advice and a grant of up to £500 towards an action plan. The Growth Hub application page remains available, but its funding opportunities page currently reports a waiting list. Confirm availability with the programme team before relying on a grant or a particular timetable.

Who can apply?
The published entry criteria include a Norfolk business address, fewer than 250 employees, turnover below £54 million, at least six months of trading and some existing use of digital technology. A social media account can count as digital use, so the examples do not require an existing website. The form also sets a Minimal Financial Assistance subsidy limit. Read the full criteria and ask the programme team to check your position.
Can the grant pay for a new website or improvements?
Website-related work can be relevant, but your particular purchase needs approval. Norfolk County Council’s published Perfect Pie case study describes grant funding and the business’s own money being used to improve its online shop. That is a historical programme example, not a Mousehold project or proof that every new website will qualify today. Ask your adviser to confirm whether your proposed build, content or ecommerce changes fit your action plan.
Follow the approval and payment sequence
The June 2026 grant guide puts the approved audit and action plan before the invitation to apply. The application is reviewed, an offer is issued if successful, and the accepted offer comes before purchase of the approved project. The business then provides payment evidence for reimbursement. The guide states the council’s standard payment terms are 30 days. Check your offer for the actual conditions, including when a deposit, order or work may begin.
Give your website supplier a focused brief
Start with the recommendation you want to implement. For example, a service business might need clearer service information and a tested enquiry route. A shop might need customers to understand delivery options before ordering. These are planning examples, not a list of automatically eligible costs. Describe the problem, who uses the website and what the finished work should let them do.
- Share the relevant action-plan recommendation and the scheme guidance.
- List the pages or features involved and what should stay unchanged.
- State who provides copy, photographs, product information and account access.
- Ask for the build cost, VAT, ongoing charges and exclusions separately.
- Confirm the quote validity, delivery timing and proposed payment milestones.
Budget for the whole purchase
A grant ceiling is not the same as the price you will pay. Our one-page template website and launch starts at £495 + VAT, with hosting and ongoing care separate. That price does not mean a £500 grant will cover the bill. The award, eligible costs, treatment of VAT and any extra work all need to be established. A shop, booking system or custom integration requires a separate scope.
- Ask the programme team whether VAT is eligible in your circumstances.
- Check any supplier-selection or competing-quote requirements before choosing a provider.
- Confirm whether hosting, licences, maintenance or a monthly package can be included.
- Plan how you will pay the supplier before any grant reimbursement arrives.
How Mousehold Studio can help
We can prepare an itemised website quote for your application, explain the deliverables and revise our proposed scope in response to your adviser’s requirements. If the approved budget is smaller than the original brief, we can discuss a useful reduced scope before work begins. Any change to an approved project should be checked with your funder. We do not make funding decisions, promise acceptance or automatically defer our invoices until a grant is paid.
